Face-to-Face.

Game Face is a GO!
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. - Walt Disney

Prepping...

My telephone interview was on September 19th, and I was told that I would hear back in the next couple weeks if I was going onto the face-to-face interviews.  The nerves are really sinking in at this point because this is the final interview, it's the place I would give anything to be at!

On October 2nd, I got a Disney email from my YummyJobs recruiter.  Needless to say, I didn't want to open at first, this is a huge moment, but obviously I did.  And I am so thankful I did, there it was, the only words I wanted to hear, I had officially been invited to the FACE-TO-FACE interviews!  I feel like at this point I can start to taste a dream becoming a reality, haha!

How do you prepare for this interview?  To be honest, again, you don't really.  You know that research you did for your phone interview?  That's what I took as my prep.  Along with some important papers that you need to bring with you including...

*Resume
*Passport (copy of)
*Role Checklist
*Online Application

The online application and role checklist get sent to you, you have to do the application online and then print it and bring it with you, but they only send it to you if you make it to the face-to-face interviews of course!

On October 22nd I got all the information about the date time and whereabouts of my face-to-face interview, and lucky for me it ended up being in Toronto, so it was only a hop skip and a jump for me! On October 23rd I got an email with the link for the online application and began the process of filling it out.

A FEW TIPS...

Because I knew I had a bunch of papers that I needed to bring with me, I took a file folder and put the papers in as I was finishing them, I also brought copies of these documents in case anything happened and I needed a new one!

For this interview, like any other, you have to dress in business attire.  I made sure a few days before that I had a good outfit to wear for this occasion and pulled it out the night before to check and make sure I was all set.

Interview Day...

Speaking probably for most people, it is not easy to sleep the night before your interview!  My interview was at 8:30am at the Ted Rogers School of Management.  I woke up nice and early, prepared myself, made sure I ate!  On the road I went, to what was probably one of the most nerve racking days of my life!

I went early so I knew where to go and everything, and good thing!  When I got there, a lot of people had already gotten there, and it was good because everyone was in the same boat so you found yourself talking to others and it really helped to calm you down, even if only for that 20 minutes before it all started.

Everyone got taken into a large classroom where we met our YummyJobs and Disney Recruiters.  They were the nicest people ever and had nothing but happy things to talk about and do!  We sat through a presentation and small, cute trivia game until about 10:00am and then were assigned one on one interview times.  My recruiter decided to interview those who were from farther away first and work her way to people closer to home, so in that case, I ended up second last, woot woot!  Lucky for me, Ted Rogers is in the Eaton Centre, so even though my scheduled interview time wasn't til 4:30 I still had something to do, and a lot of really awesome people who were in similar situations too!

Like most interviews with 60 different people to interview, it ran late, I came back up at 3:30 and sat around with people to talk, people who were doing this for the first time, and got to hear stories of people who had already been on this journey!  It was nice to hear all the things they had to say!  At 6:30, I finally went in for my interview!  Being the classy girl that I am I had taken off my heels and put on flats by that point so me and my interviewer had a good laugh about the fact that I was just carrying my heels :P

Just like the phone interview, it was very casual, they didn't ask you anything stressful, they just wanted to meet you and see what kind of experiences you've had.  Also, they ask about tattoos and piercings, so just be careful what you do before you leave ;)

When I left my interview we were told that we would hear back in a week about whether or not we were going to be packing up and moving to Disney to experience the magic!

Things to help prepare...

1.  Again, BE YOURSELF/CONFIDENT - look how far you've made it already?  They like you and just want to put a face to a name.
2.  KEEP TALKING - before and during the interview, talk to the people who have been through this already, and the people who are doing this for the first time, everyone can help everyone stay positive and not as nervous!
3.  POINT OUT YOUR SKILLS - when you're answering questions, use the talents and skills you have as a person and work them into your answers, it benefits you
4.  HAVE FUN - these people work for DISNEY, they're not here to hound you and make you feel lower, they want you to be the perfect person to work for them, they're going to do anything they can to make your dream come true!
